The design of the coin is the work of Luciana De Simoni and it represents a part of one of the most famous paintings of Tintoretto "The Visitation". This painting, inspired by the apocryphal Gospels, shows Mary's visit to her cousin Elizabeth, pregnant both by Jesus and by John the Baptist, respectively. The design of the coin is completed with the dates of the commemoration: 1518-2018 (commemorating the 500th anniversary of the birth of Tintoretto) along with the name of the artist "TINTORETTO" at the bottom. Finally, the name of the issuing country "SAN MARINO" appears on the top of the coin
