The coin commemorates the Centenary of the first session of the Dáil Éireann, celebrated on January 21, 1919 in the Mansion House placed in the Dawson street in Dublin.
The Dáil Éireann, which is since is known to the Irish parliament, proclaimed the independence of Ireland the same day in which it was meeting for the first time, this fact and the serious happened incidents the same day ended in the beginning of the war of Irish independence.
